Join Us For An Unaccompanied Veteran Burial At The Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery

*** MEDIA ADVISORY ***On Wednesday, March 8th at 11:00 a.m.sharp, the  Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran Burial for U.S. Navy Seaman Apprentice James E. Bridgford. Born on April 15, 1949, Seaman Apprentice Bridgford served from December 1966 to April 1970. Seaman Apprentice Bridgford received the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star.   Seaman Apprentice Bridgford is not expected to have any next-of-kin attend his burial.

Commissioner Buckingham Announces Veterans Land Board’s Increase of Home Loan Amount to $726,200

Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham shared that the Veterans Land Board (VLB) has approved an increase for the VLB home loan amount from $647,200 to $726,200.    “In 2022, the VLB assisted over 1,760 Veterans and their families with purchasing a home,” said Commissioner Buckingham. “The VLB’s home loan increase will expand not only the home buying opportunities for Veterans and their families, but also help even more families achieve their own American dream.

Join Us for an Opening Celebration of Fort Worth's New Texas State Veterans Home

On Friday, October 21st, 2022, the Fort Worth community is invited to join Texas Land Commissioner and Chairman of the Veterans Land Board George P. Bush for the soft opening of the new Tuskegee Airmen Texas State Veterans Home. The opening ceremony will be held at 2200 Joe B. Rushing Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76119 at 10:30 a.m. The community is encouraged to attend. The new Texas State Veterans Home in Fort Worth is named after the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African American combat flying support program in the United States Armed Forces.

Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home Awarded $535,000 VA Grant

Today, Texas Veteran Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush announced that the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has awarded the VLB a grant totaling $535,135 for the Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home (TSVH) in McAllen. Today, Veteran Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush announced that the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has awarded the VLB a grant totaling $453,335.50 to three Texas State Veterans Homes (TSVH). The grant money will be used to replace the roofing at the Ambrosio Guillen TSVH in El Paso and the Alfredo Gonzalez TSVH in McAllen.
