Assessment of E. Coli Pollution from Failing On-Site Sewage Facilities to Galveston Bay

Project Description

The purpose of the project will be to assess the water quality impact of failing onsite sewage facilities (OSSFs) in the Dickinson Bayou watershed. A water monitoring program will be used to assess the transport of Escherichia coli (E. coli) from OSSFs in the Dickinson Bayou watershed to surface waters that drain into Galveston Bay. Geographic Information System (GIS) analyses will be conducted to “scale-up” the water quality data to get an estimate of total potential E. coli loads to Galveston Bay that can be attributed to OSSFs located on poor draining soils with high water tables.
