Project Description
This project will provide pre-construction data collection, wave and current analysis, biological assessment, engineering design, and environmental permitting to prepare for the future construction of approximately 2 miles of living shorelines along Salt Lake and Redfish Lake adjacent to Carancahua Bay and Matagorda Bay. Construction will protect 1,020 acres of salt marsh, oysters, seagrass, and shallow water habitat complex, including up to 75% of intertidal salt marsh within the lakes. The project will ultimately restore the natural hydrodynamic and salinity regime across 11,600 acres of shallow water habitat within the lower portion of the Bay.
