Project Description
This project will build a breakwater using rock or marine grade concrete structures (reef balls) that provide habitat structure for aquatic organisms and potential places for encrusting organisms to settle. Local ecotypes of cordgrass, bulrush, and other native plants were planted by hand and allowed to vegetate the area and sediment will be allowed to accrete naturally within this restored marsh area. Repairs were made around the moist soil management unit levees and sufficient armoring was added to minimize the risk of erosion to the levees.
