Improving Hydrodynamic Predictions of Surface Currents Near the Texas Coast Used for Rapid Oil Spill Response

Project Description

A continued effort to improve and existing nowcast/forecast hydrodynamic modeling system of surface currents over the Texas Louisiana continental shelf.  We will extend and enhance the current Texas Automated Buoy System Modeling Effort project by replacing the existing model with a higher resolution model, making it the primary model to use for oil spill response.   The overall objective of this project is to better predict surface currents for oil spill response over the Texas-Louisiana continental shelf on the timescale of hours to day.
