Summary
Construction of the third-phase extension of the existing living shoreline protection project along of the Moses Lake north shoreline. This project will benefit the public by increasing habitat and, as a result, improving outdoor recreation opportunities such a fishing, kayaking, birding, and eco-tourism. The Moses Lake Dollar Bay complex is a popular fishing destination for boat, kayak, and wade fishermen. Furthermore, though privately-owned, The Nature Conservancy’s Texas City Prairie Preserve is open to the public and includes 40 acres of public access areas. The remainder of the preserve is available for public tours. More than 1,000 students of all ages, birders, and other wildlife enthusiasts frequent the preserve each year to observe the unique flora and fauna. The preserve is also part of the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail.
