Texas High School Coastal Monitoring Program: Port Aransas High School

Project Description

High School students, teachers, and scientists worked together to gain a better understanding of dune and beach dynamics on the Texas coast.  Students and teachers learned how to measure the topography, map the vegetation line and shoreline, and observe weather and wave conditions.

As part of their course work, students from Port Aransas High School will monitor selected beaches over a period of one year. By participating in an actual research project, the students obtained an enhanced science education.
