Project Description
The Town of South Padre Island developed an unimproved beach access point into a beach park the area between Gulf Boulevard and the Historic Building Line. Development included a parking area, with one handicapped accessible space; two shelters, with long picnic tables made from recycled plastic materials; a water fountain with side foot shower; handicapped accessible public toilets; four benches made from recycled plastic materials; a bike rack; bollards to protect the water fountain from cars in the parking area; irrigation system; and landscaping such as brick pavers, native trees, and low to the ground native plants. Developing this access point provided the town in compliance with the beach maintenance program.
