Triangle Tree Rookery Island Restoration - Phase 2

Project Description

Triangle Tree Island provide nesting habitat for herons, egrets, gulls, terns and skimmers. Erosion of these islands reduces habitat for various bird species, which can lead to insufficient food sources, overcrowding and other pressures that could cause the bird populations to shrink.  This project would protect Triangle Tree Island, from erosion by constructing protective structures, such as shoreline armoring for each island.  Phase 1  includes feasibility, preliminary engineering, alternatives analysis, final design and permitting. Phase 2,this project, is the construction phase.  Opportunities to include beneficial use of dredged material during the construction would be pursued.
