Commissioner George P. Bush announces more than $10.9 million for flood and drainage improvements for Orange County
Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) approved $10,934,201 in Hurricane Harvey disaster recovery funds for Orange County to make flood and drainage improvements. "Hurricane Harvey devastated communities across the Texas Coast," said Commissioner Bush. "These recovery funds are critical to improving local infrastructure that will protect lives, homes and businesses from future storms.

Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush awarded three recipients the Texas General Land Office’s (GLO) 2020 Oil Spill Prevention & Response Act (OSPRA) Award, which recognizes outstanding environmental practices in the oil spill response community.

Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the results of the four-day Vessel Turn-In Program held in Brazoria County this week from March 22-25. The Texas General Land Office (GLO) and Brazoria County partnership collected 39 vessels measuring 598 feet. Since 2016, the annual events with Brazoria County and other counties along the Texas Coast have collected and disposed of a total of 917 derelict and inoperable boats.

Today the Texas General Land Office (GLO) announced the fourth amendment to the $57.8 million action plan for Hurricane Harvey has been posted for a federally required 14-day public comment period.The amendment separates the Harris County administered buyout program into two buyout programs for voluntary and mandatory buyouts. The Harris County Voluntary Buyout Program budget is $15,400,000 and the Harris County Mandatory Buyout Program budget is $28,065,000.

Today the Texas General Land Office (GLO) posted Amendment 8 to the State Action Plan for $5.676 billion in Community Development Block Grants for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) for a federally required 30-day public comment period.The amendment includes the following changes:Reinstates more than $835 million for the City of Houston’s administration of the Homeowner Assistance (limited), Single Family Development, Multifamily Rental, Small Rental, Homebuyer Assistance, Buyout, Public Services and Economic Revitalization Programs.Reallocates Harris County administered project delivery funds

The Texas GLO Adopt-A-Beach Spring Cleanup will take place at 21 different locations across the Texas coastline.

Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) approved $31,426,781 in flood mitigation projects in the first round of grant funding for the GLO’s $2.3 billion regional mitigation competitions. Hidalgo County will be granted $9,858,499 for phase one of the main floodwater channel expansion project and the city of Penitas will receive $4,075,137 for the Tom Gill Rd Flood Mitigation improvements project.
