On March 16, 1917 the Texas Legislature passed SB 357 (Acts 1917, 35th R.S.,ch. 83, General Laws of Texas) allowing for the prospecting for and the development of the minerals in the public lands of Texas.
Registers of applications for mineral leases on advertised lands. Dates refer to dates applications were received. Each volume is organized by Group 1 (Surveyed School Land), Group II (Submerged Areas, including Lakes, Marshes and Islands, Galveston and Chambers Counties, Galveston Bay and Vicinity), and Group III (Stream Beds); and by county and date.
Information provided includes who leased the land, where the lease is located and amount paid for the lease (assuming the application was approved).
