Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) approved $31,843,096 combined in Hurricane Harvey disaster recovery grants for infrastructure projects in Hurricane Harvey affected communities. Local leaders prioritized these projects to ensure the most effective use of available funds for infrastructure improvements."Hurricane Harvey devastated communities across the Texas Coast," said Commissioner Bush. "These recovery funds are critical to improving local infrastructure that will protect lives, homes and businesses from future storms.

Today, the Texas General Land Office (GLO) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced the upcoming dates and locations for a series of Public Open Houses on the Coastal Texas Study. The Coastal Texas Protection & Restoration Feasibility Study, or the Coastal Texas Study, is a comprehensive draft proposal to examine the feasibility of construction projects for coastal storm risk management and ecosystem restoration along the Texas coast.

Mitigation Action Plan Comment Period Extended to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10The Texas General Land Office (GLO) will extend the public comment period for the Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) state action plan to accommodate an additional public hearing requested by local officials on Thursday, January 9, in Jasper. Today, Texas Veterans Land Board Chairman George P. Bush announced that on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. SHARP, the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran burial for BUCN Mark Lancaster. Born on August 3, 1955, Mr. Lancaster served in the United States Navy from January 10, 1974 to May 10, 1976. He received the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Lancaster is not expected to have anyone attend his burial.

Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) issued a request for qualifications solicitation to develop a $75 million planning study, consisting of three regionalized studies based on Texas' major river basins, to evaluate mitigation and abatement strategies to reduce disaster impacts and increase community resiliency. "Hurricane Harvey's devastation was unprecedented, but Texas continues to pull together to help one another rebuild stronger and more resilient," said Commissioner Bush.
